Hi All,

Well most of the members would remember my LJ 383 project from the forum and about 12 months ago I put up a topic with my LJ finished and at the GM day in Perth last year. Unfortunately the LJ suffered a minor mishap with a pole, stump and 4 curbs. The day still haunts me so please no questions. I had to replace a drivers side guard, passengers side lower guard, passengers side door and part of the sill otherwise the body was okay. The other things that had to be replaced were the extractors, front crossmember (Bent everywhere even with the strengthening plates etc), gearbox sump and wheels) Still Anyway enough of about the accident and onto the good stuff.

I stripped out the mechanicals and started on the rebuild which has included:

Mini Tubs
Coilovers
Modified and Coated Castlemaine Extractors
Tubular lower trailing arms & Adjustable top arms
Boyd Rims 17 x 10 rear, 17 x 7 front
9" shortened and changed to 31 spline Billet axles
New front crossmember all seams tig welded and lower wishbones strengthened right through.
Engine has been stripped and revamped and rebalanced with new H beam rods, larger cam, new roller lifters and a couple of other small changes.
Fuel system is also being changed in favour of a new Aeromotive Tsunami pump and filter system.
Steering rack has been reconditioned as has the steering column with new bearings top and bottom.

All work so far has been done by myself with Phil (Modinized) dropping in to lend a hand upon occasion.

Anyway I have attached some photos for your viewing pleasure.

Cheers,

Owch what an unlucky accident.

That aside its coming along very well now! Just a question is it engineered/registered with the V8?

Hi All,

Just to let you know i can get hold of some of the Boyd rim range directly out of the USA by air in approx two weeks inc customs inspection etc. A little longer if they are a special offset etc.

I bought the rims on the car 17 x 7 and 17 x 10 from the USA by air and inc all GST, freight and customs costs for around AUD 2,000 and now that is cheaper again with the way the dollar is at the moment.

The rims on the Torrie are the Magneato model but i can get most others. You will need to know the exact offset and PCD etc.

Regards,

Darren

Hey Phil,

Check out my rim mans website www.ronsrims1.com and look at his range but i am not sure what the prices are like on the other brands. With the way the US dollar is going these days it is well worth it to buy from there. The word is that the dollar will go one for one in the coming months.

I am off overseas on business next week till the first week in December so not much time to play with the car. Let me know when you are next back.

Cheers,

Hi All,

Been a while but havent been too idle. Below are the pictures of the almost finished boot (Billet NOS bracket due at end of week from USA). Panhard bar installed and almost adjusted correctly. Fuel system has been completly revamped and new 1/2" lines have been run upto the hand made box on the right in the pictures and the lines to the reg.

I have been able to get the car a little lower but there is only 3/4 - 1" of clearance around the tyre but next set of tyres will be smaller profile so maybe can lower it a little more. Coilovers are such that i can adjust them so they dont move to much if i have people in the back. I need to lower the front to keep up with the back but not sure if i want to cut the springs anymore. Has anyone used the Castlemaine drop stub axles on there torrie? If so let me know how they went and if you have any pictures. I want to go with the 2" drop.

Motor will come back out this week in prep for the panel work to be done and the car painted again. This will happen Early march so expect car to be back up and running by June latest. In time for Powercruise 15 in October Yeeha.

Cheers,

Nice work mate. Fuel Cell setup came up a treat! And the Battery cover, and the Panhard Rod! Dam you work quick. :P

Mines almost done. Final touch ups before the final coats then it will be back at my place for the fun to begin.
