Gday All...
Just wondering if anyone has had their headers ceramic coated.I have been told it is great for an old set ,as it extends their life and looks better than rusty old pipes and lasts a lot longer. It also has benefits like getting heat out of the engine bay.Has anyone had it done and if so where did you get it done.I had a quote from Tuffy Mufflers at Zetland in Sydney for $370 to get a set done.Anyone had experiences they wish to share.
Thanks

There's a company in taren point called "motorsport coatings".. they actually DO the process at their factory.
White pages says:

MotorSport Ceramics & Coatings
Un 2/ 2 Production Rd Taren Point 2229
(02) 9542 8177

I only know of them because we work for a company who's factory is in the same complex.

I am pretty sure it costs around $250 at Jet hot in Castlemaine, VIC. maybe even less. I can find out as a mate just got some done

Thanks for the replys...
MRNOS...what is HPC ?? and how does it compare pricewise. Please let me know.
Tiny..thanks for the info..I rang them today and they quoted me $396 for both the headers.
Makka..It would almost be worth sending them to VIC for that price..I wonder why they are so much cheaper ????
Thanks again..

HPC stands for High Performance Coatings. look them up on the net. They are very good I have my Extractors done and also pistons/Skirts
I will also be getting heads done by them

The exhaust coating is definately worth getting done

When I did mine Jet Hot wanted $300, plus freight both ways from Sydney-Melbourne.
I went to Competition Coatings at Granville, $330 and no stuffing around etc.

HPC is the place to get it done, cost me 250 to get my LJ headers done including postage, its amazing how much heat they stop from radiating into the engine bay, but be ware just cause you cant feel it when your fingers and about 1mm away, you will when you touch em i assure you!! lol, alot of high performance guys (atleast in sprintcars) are getting everything coated these days, such as engine components. HPC are in Victoria. you can get numerous finishes but the chrome is pretty dam good.

Long Tri-Y's for my V8 torana.

Its dear in Sydney but freight to Melbourne or Brisbane is probably $50 to get them there and back, so sometimes not worth it

Gday All..
Thanks again to anyone who replied to my querie!!
I ended up going to Tuffy's at Zetland. The headers came up a treat.
They were acid dipped ,sandblasted, any repairs made and then coated. The best way to describe them ,is they look like they have been chrome plated, but obviously not as shiny.A massive improvement on how they looked before I sent them off. Almost a shame to bolt them onto the motor and get them dirty..
Cheers
Oh well thats one less thing to do..only a million other things to go !!!

They look good until you scratch them put them in :(
I forgot before my price was for new pipes, think it was $30 more for old pipes as they need to clean them before blasting.

What was the total cost btw?

Got a piccy of there finish?
