National Torana Day

If we were to celebrate one day of the year dedicated to our beloved Toranas, what day do you reckon it should be?

I know everyday should be a Torana day but I was thinking of one specific day.

Should it be the date the first Torana was built or the date the last Torana was built?

Should it have something to do with Brock? Or should it be the 3rd of August (308)?

How would we celebrate our National day? Obviously cruising would be involved and Torana attire would have to be worn .

What else could we do to celebrate?

Your thoughts?

hey give the big T a break. I reckon its a great idea. All torana nuts celebrating witha cruise and BBQ in holden attire all on the same day.

I reckon the date the first Torrie rolled off the line would be great! :spoton:

How about the day that a Torana beat the GT's on the mountain (Bathurst win)because lets face it if it hadn't been for bathurst wins than would the Torana be considered a muscle car at all and be loved by so many.

Great idea Big T. I reckon the day the first Torana rolled off the production line. That's if it's not the middle of winter. 2nd choice maybe Brocks birthday seen he sort of made the Torana famous.

I have also been thinking of A National - Drive your Torana to work day!

I miss the days when you would cruise the streets and see two or three really nice toranas a day!

We could quite easily Start a National Torana day! Say the first Weekend of March Every Year or something (Dont know why march.... But anyway!)

Actually, picking a 1st/2nd/3rd/4th Saturday of a month rather than a date is a much better idea MRLXSS. That way you aren't locked into a date which may fall during the week, limiting numbers.

Right which month should we choose?
lets get some info on the following dates, so we can look at a month that coincides with as many dates as possible.

First HB
First LC
First LJ
First TA
First LH
First LX
First UC
Last UC
Brock's Bday
Bathurst wins

First Torana (HB) was introduced in March 1967. 15th of March sounded good but I reckon the 16th is better, nothing to do with the fact it is my Birthday or anything

I got a feeling for all these "National Days". You know the ones - National Secretaries Day, National Push Bike to Work Day, National Jeans Day, National Clean up Australia day, National lets have a national day, day.

Love the idea though! - i reckon it should be the aniversary of the first BIG win of the torry.. I think that's when it really hit the history books.
