Those with the Muncie transmissions originally from LHD Chev vehicles e.g. M22 Rockcrusher will find that the standard range of Hurst shifters just don't suit.

I've worked out the correct dimensions for relocating the shift knob to suit RHD Torana LH/LX. Details below. I'm probably going to send it to a workshop but If anyone on here is capable and interested in a little extra cash please PM me.

I think the easiest way to manufacture it would be to grab a ~360mm length of 24mm x 7mm bar, carefully make the two bends, drill a hole down the central axis in one end, insert and weld-in a stub of 3/8"-16 threaded rod into that hole to provide a 20mm section, grind back a taper, then drill the mounting holes at the bottom. I'm thinking mild steel that I can then paint black or chrome. Aluminium would be awesome but 6000 series would probably be too expensive or unable to be worked to such a angle.

No worries it's not easy to pick out. Basically from the top hole in the Hurst gate, the shifter knob comes 100mm back, 160mm towards the driver and up 190mm, with the shaft at the knob angled 15 degrees towards the right, if that makes sense.

Hi was this shift lever ever made and available for purchase? Or does anyone know another option to get the shift lever back over toward the driver with a muncie in an LH torana that can be bought? thanks!!

I still haven't sent this to a fabricator yet - should I get a couple made up?!

Meanwhile, I think I've worked out a cheaper/easier way of manufacturing it using 12mm rod:

I have a hurst shifter in mine but the actual gear lever is very short and you need arms like Swartzanegger if you spend any considerable time changing quickly through the gears plus i'm not real happy with the mods I have currently made

I presume those measurements put the gear stick back into the original location so you can use a console?

I'm going about it a totaly different way, currently relocating the shifter from the side of the T10 to over the top of the box like a depress shifter. Bought one of the hurst speedway billet shifters which have the shift linkage levers to the far left. That way if you move the shifter to the right it stops the shift linkages fowling the side of the box and you end up with the shifter centrally located and you have not changed shift geometry. Still have a bit to do, will post a pic when I know it works.

side on. you didn't give any mesurments for the horazontal section so i made it with 90deg bends.
Made out of high strenthe flat bar 300+ grade so it's very strong and has next to no flex unless you
lean on it hard as you can, and i weigh 110kgs and it only bend about 2mm

No, my experience is that the full LH console fouls on the base of the Hurst shifter when going for reverse. Moving the entire shifter block centrally as myss427 describes would be the better way (but requires more effort).

I've got an LX Hatch and yeh the hurst shifter does foul on the left hand side of the console by about 15-20mm

But the previous owner 'relieved' part of the console so it would all fit, then proceded to make a dodgey adapter out of a piece of box section, washes and long bolts

Something that was both sturdy and cosmetically appealing, such as above would be nice.

I have made one and sent it to lima31 in WA. i will wait for his feed back and if anything needs to be changed.
Then if anyone wants one i will make them one aswell

Just an update that I've received the shifter and it fits like a charm.

The thread on the top was just right, the shifter pattern on the shifter knob lines up when fully tightened.

I think for those with longer arms than average might want to move the shift point say 25mm forward, and heavier guys might want to move it 25mm back towards the centre of the car, but for me at 5'10" its spot on.
