It will have to be checked by an engineer for all those mods that you want to do before it gets rego in w.a.

Have recently heard it's a lot more difficult now to get a v8 UC over the pits here in WA.... so not sure how true that is, but if you get engineering approvals I'm sure you should have no dramas.

I'd highly recommend Sam Rossi from Rossi Mechanical Engineering on 0411 133 588, his work is tops and has done various Torana's over the years.

thanks again for the info, very helpful, are we allowed to cut the wheel arches for tyre clearanceor should it be done after the pits, it will be goin over the pits with skinny tyres but will have 295's on it after.

You can cut the guards but you can not have 295's.

You will find all the rules here.

The standard procedure is to fill in an application to modify a light vehicle and get approval in principal for the modifications. The approval in principal will list what items require engineer certification.

before you start changing. you need to submit a form to the transport department which details the sort of stuff you want to do, they will either ring you or send you the form back saying yes or no to if they let you do the mods.
The forms will come back outling details they want to see and a list of engineers certified by the transport dept. there scattered all over perth.

Then you can ring up one of those engineers and discuss what he wants to see eg. strength of components, and at what stages of the build he wants to inspect it. when engineer is happy, he signs off.
you then send engineers paper work to the transport dept. then you can get it inspected at pits.
a few friends and myself have been through the process.
I`ve heard dan pittic is good to use, he is on the list. I have used jack apgar a few times, he has been quite helpful also, to myself and some friends.
hope this helps you.

thanx guys, a bit put off about all the channels i ave to go thru, but still think i will give it a go, got the uc hatch pretty cheap and in surprisingly good cond, compared to a lot on this site, it hasnt been lic in many years, rust in c pillars, a little at hatch hinge points but not much else, most of it now back to bare metal and looks good, so may still go ahead, any way the dash is out already, so maybe no turning back. cars like berro's uc to lx hatch thread keep me interested and keen, thanks again Greg
