i saw on you tube when brocky broke the lap record by 3 seconds in 1982,down conrod straight 275k/ph,lap time 2.17 seconds.the v8 super cars are doing about 290-295 k/ph down conrod straight, and a bit under 2.10 seconds.for the 30 years different in performance the cars are not really that much quicker now then 30 years ago.just my opinion.thanks jason.

Fury beat that by about 4 second 2 years later in the top 10 shootout

Then the chase came in and no-one can beat his record now

The cars of today are faster , have more grip but boring as batshit

Happy to live in the past with my memories

Fastest race lap for Group C was Brock in 1984, 2:15:13.

Cool that the fastest Touring Car Masters is a HQ, 2:22.6622. That is heaps quicker than the best Series Production race lap set by Moffat in 1972: 2:36:5 and on the old track too.

Understeer and oversteer were a way of life with the old cars, seeing them moving around makes them a lot more entertaining to watch.. Was even better when they were all running treaded tyres, if u get a chance, watch on of chevron's "classic touring car races" dvd's with some 1960's racing on it, it is HILARIOUS

To me they are boring for the same reason F1 and Indy are boring. Nowhere near as bad as those, i'll still watch some V8 racing and won't even look at open wheeler stuff. But still much less interesting than it used to be.

Everything is far too common today, the cars share everything. It was far more interesting when they all had different tyres and ratios, different strengths and weaknesses.

Personally i would prefer to watch the Lawn Bowls World Series.......It has some form of variance.

To answer Genes question of how something can get faster but be more boring, well, a VE SS is faster than a L34, tell me the L34 isnt more interesting....

Cheers.
