I was in South Africa last week and went to an old wreckers. Heaps of mechanical parts off South African assembled Holden and GMH Chevrolet. Thought this would interest many here. There was a row of Trimatics, see first image. With them was one from behind a 250ci local 6cyl which is a clone of the USA Chevy 6, much like out V6's here were clones of the USA based V6. The bellhousing was made here in Australia with the box, but is SBC/BBC pattern. Code on the side is SJ, it was a RH shift box. Will be from a AQ or AJ I reckon. I knew these existed and I have seen the bellhousing in South America too with HOLDEN on them as well.

I wish you gave that ID plate a rub with a bit of rag.  Really cool though. I love finding GMH related stuff overseas. I saw a few HQ's in Namibia when I was up there.

I rubbed that one with my fingers. All I wanted to see was GMH, MADE IN AUSTRALIA and the SJ code.

I wish I had a cheap and easy way to get over there and fill a 20' shipping container and send it back. Plenty of 308 manual pattern 1969-1976 blocks and whole engines, 4" bore SBC and Cleveland blocks plus transmissions for all of them. Plus heads etc. Plenty of cars left but all r00ted. Most of it has been sitt8ng for over 30 years by the looks in a dry climate.

Interesting, it would be nice to be able to get the number from it. The tag looks blue, all the Holden ones I've seen are red and an early rwd Corolla that I've seen with a Trimatic had a black tag.

The number is just a sequential serial number. Its the SJ that counts.
