 Built a 4 speed v8 box from a 6cyl with a few new bits

Pulled the K frame and bolted all the running gear and went back under

Custom made AC brackets, now just connecting everything up

I used modifies Torana style mounts ( 10mm lower engine) to provide enough clearance grow HEI dizzy and PCV

Looks like a VB or late HZ engine with the longer head bolt bosses.

It  looks great Muzza.  Good to see you left the ports alone on the heads. A 253 with a mild cam won't perform if you start removing a lot of metal from them.

Yep just a very small amount on the floor of the intake and exhaust and casting dags particularly around the the valve stems, they were very bad

i did back cut the intake valves for better mid cam lift flow

How'd you go about converting a 6 cyl bx to V8. I know there are several other posts covering this that talk about changing the input shaft, but seeing as you've actually just done it yourself, how'd you go about?

Easy. Pull the side cover off the box and support the main shaft, selectors etc so they stay put. Unbolt and remove the input shaft cover. You can pull the input shaft out carefully making sure you recover all the needle rollers. Reverse the process with a V8 input shaft. Hold the new needle rollers in place inside the input shaft with grease or Vaseline. You need a V8 front cover too to match the input shaft length and seal type.

Note every Aussie 4spd I have ever pulled apart has had something screwed in it, I’d always pull it apart and inspect & replace as needed. They always have a dead cluster or 1st gear or synchros or main shaft.

So the engine is going, needs some tuning to get right

( 14btdc on timing, no ping)( bogs a little so I need to put a heavy spring in secondary)

but….. developed a big lifter tick at 50km of driving and sounds terrible

so off with covers and check out for cracked bridges, loose rockers etc, before I pull the valley

Pulled the drivers cover off, 1 rocker has a bout 2mm clearance, hence the noise, so lifter isn’t pumping up, it was when I started the engine as it was very quiet

so lifter come apart? Oil flowing from push rod hole, freely so no blockage

BTW crow lifters

Sounds like a lifter not working. Hopefully you haven't wiped the cam as well.
