Need to fit an oil pressure guage to my LX Torana.

Do you typically go mechanical or electric for this?

Mine has had a Smiths mechanical temp and oil pressure gauge for at least 25 years without any hassles. It has the SLR dash too. I just wanted a bit more redundancy and wanted to know it had oil pressure before firing up.

In my younger days I fitted a mechanical oil pressure gauge to my car.

Had a little problem with it that induced reduced vision and added rust proofing to the car.

Wont ever fit one again.

Cheers

I dont know why they didnt supply those mechanical gauges with the copper tube instead of that plastic stuff that kinks etc... It was always available as an aftermarket part...

Copper fatigues, cracks & then leaks. Even though it kinks, the black nylon is better in the long run.

Having said that, my preference would be for a modern electric gauge, which has a proper 2-pin sensor & a decent wiring harness.

I sell these to the trade: https://www.ebay.com...1RoC5bAQAvD_BwE
