Guys
Has anyone ever come across a V8 Holden or Torana fitted with V8 and banjo that wasn't 2.78 or 3.08 ratio?
Reason I ask is I always believed that the only V8 banjos were the 2.78 or 3.08 units that use 2 x bolts rather than all studs. Originally these were Borg Warner made for GMH and were nodular iron, whereas the 6cyl centres were straight grey iron. But looking at HT Eng Tech Specs the other day they show the following:
253 M15 STD with 3.08 on all V8 models where this was standard. 3.36 listed as performance option.
253 M21 STD with 3.08 on V8 GTS or where M21 was optioned. 3.36 listed as performance option.
On HG the 3.36 performance rear axle was limited to only where M21 was fitted behind 253, there was no optional rear axle for 253 M15.
There is no optional rear axle listed for 4.2 manual Torana.
This does make sense ratio wise as in HQ 3.36 was the performance rear axle for 253 M20 and the standard rear axle for 253 M21 but these were Salisbury rear axles
Note that in HT-HG those 3.36 performance rear axles were banjos, if a Salisbury was involved they were shown as such and had a different PO code.
