Always reliable, you could see the cloud of tyre smoke over the Nats from quite some distance.

Twas nice to see this above excellent hatch right inside the entryway.

They have moved the checking in process to the paddock opposite the main gates. Not happy Jan.

I imagine it will quite the cattle yard experience Friday and Saturday morning.

I read that police have already seized 4 cars (outside of EPIC) after day 1. They seized 5 for the whole weekend last year, so the dickhead contingent may be showing themselves a bit more for 2026.

The pluses at the Nats are all the morbidly obese Dazzas and Shazzas. Some of them are so big they need their own postcode.

Police action is fierce.

They seem to be targeting the gay community. This does not displease me.

I think someone has decided to crack down hard early and I think it’s working. Driving behaviour inside seems better.

In general colours were less good on the toranas than in previous years.

Burnouts were savage in the heat.

I bet my daughter there would be 1 in 15 catch fire and 3 in 15 break bad enough to be towed off the pad by The Triton of Doom.

I was sooo wrong. Heaps of fires and very little tow action.

Its the closest thing you can get to the vibe of the Colliseum at a Lions vs Humans match.

Two cars in terrible colours that have somehow escaped being repainted in the last 50 + years. I wander what percentage of SMP cars kept their original paint?

There are heaps of HQ coupes here. It doesn't seem to matter what colour you paint them, they all look very good.

I was watching it on Youtube this morning, and one car I liked the look of was the (Lina Mint?) LC in the elite hall.

Im sure theres a story, likely a Shakespearean tragedy. Or comedy.

Offset smoke stack through the hood so presumably a 4 or 6 cyl consumer of the fuel of Satan.

It was nice enough but its hard to compete when you are green.

Green green should never be seen….

Sad. But if they are happy its their life.

Judging by the exhausted look on most of the very large they were not enjoying the heat.

I have to say that your average attendee is not a physically fit specimen.

This morning was hot and very windy. No burnouts until 11am so decided to check out the dyno hall in the hope some big hitters would take advantage.

We were rewarded in spades.

Attached File  IMG_8118.jpeg   124.41K   0 downloads

This car had run the day before and had missed out on the all time naturally aspirated record. It corrected that with its BB ford single carb combo.

Yes, you read it right, 1112 hp

We were promised that if we came back later they would be running all the current big hitters in forced induction 6 and 8 cylinder one after the other.

Nobody cares about sixes so I will start with the third place holder coming into today. It was Adam Rogash with his drag week winning Stripshow capri. 572 BBC twin turbo combo by Dandy engines.

Attached File  IMG_8165.jpeg   125.17K   0 downloads

Three thousand six hundred and seventeen horsepower at the hubs….

Just let that sink in for a moment.

The all time record set last year by the VL GOD billet block RB combo had already been broken the day before by more than 1000hp.

Adam was only third!!!

When was the last time a record was smashed like this?

Next heavy hitter was a white 4 door Hq sedan with a Dandy engines built 540 twin turbo combo.

Attached File  IMG_8171.jpeg   120.33K   0 downloads

Did an easy looking 3560 hp.

Mind you this now made stripshow the second place holder for Sundays finals.

The last of the big bangers was a beautiful HQ coupe with a twin turbo BBC combo built by … you guessed it, Dandy Engines.

It had made 3682 hp on friday with “not much left in it” in the words of Frank Marchese from Dandy Engines who was helping out with all 3 top performers. Now that’s service from your engine builder.

Attached File  IMG_8174.jpeg   119.09K   0 downloads

3787 hp if you dont mind.

This is an absolute freakshow.

A few years back they ran a Pro Radial turbo car and a doorslammer against each other in a competition over the weekend and both cars made just over 3000 hp at the tyre with victory to the turbo car.

Now we have engineered registered cars knocking on the door of 4000hp.

And to think Chris Simpson won horsepower heroes way back at the start of the dyno comp at Summernats with 431 hp at the tyres…

Insane!
