Hi all

Took the Lh for a run at weekend bout 400km . 20km from home puff of smoke in car and alternator light on , pulled over thinking belt gone but everything intact. Got home and alternator at idle and increased reves 12.7 amps same as battery.
Thought easy will change alternator but no change .

car has now done 3000km from complete rebuild and never given an issue, have pulled wiring from behind head thinking it may have melted but again all good

any ideas would be much appreciated.

cheers Derek

Does the charge indicator light glow when you turn the ignition on?

Have you changed the globe to LED during the build?

Cheers

Rob

Hi

Is the Earth on the altonator good and the conection back to tha battery or Starter. If it is charging through an amp Meter That may be the problem to. I would check B+ to Alt output with a Volt meter Engine running. If you get a reading above 0.5V their is a Problem, Then check ALt body to B- the same way You should see less than 0.5 there to. If there is no problems there you have 2 Bad altonaters or no exciter voltage. (Not externaley regulated is it?)
