Have just removed the bushes from my upper control arms on the LX (running UC upper arms). During disassembly, we noticed that one bush came out way too easily. Turns out that I can push the bush straight in and out with my hands, so the control arm is worn on that side....

Has anyone encountered this before? Possible solutions?? Or is it a case of sourcing a replacement arm?

First reading here shows the average measurement I was getting from the worn side:

Next reading is the average from the other side, and also consistent with both sides of the other arm:

New bush outer shell below... which measured up consistently with the old bush:

Assuming you can't get another arm. I'd be tempted to make a split die to close up the hole in the press, as long as it is a snug fit rather than just crimping at a few points.

If you have access to an oxy/acetylene, heat up the control arm bush hole evenly till its cherry red all the way around and then let it cool down naturally. This will shrink the hole size. Don't be tempted to throw the hot parts in cold water to quickly cool it down or it will harden the part.

Thanks gents - I have access to the old man’s oxy set so will give that method a crack. Stay tuned.

Unsure on this, but are they like Ball Joints? where you can buy  ' oversize' to allow for flogged  out  mounts?

Hope the oxy solution works but if it doesn't could a speedy sleeve be used on the bush to make it a bit bigger?
