KRB88 - As Grant mentioned in a prev post, if you want to go to Toranafest, you can stay at our place if you need to - we have a spare lockup garage for the Torana. Ive done the Townville-Brisbane drive and its a day drive.

We are leaving Brisbane Friday night (so our 2yr old son sleeps in the car) and getting to our accom (about 40 min south of Newie) Saturday morning. :ZZZ:

If you cant find accom in Newcastle, and want to stay with us thats cool too (we have a full house but can fit in a fellow female owner from QLD im sure) - just PM my other half Grant (enderwigginau) and he will give you more details of the place/cost/etc. There is one lockup garage there - but Ive snagged it for the LC. Plenty of offstreet parking though.

Anyways if you need a place to stay, the offer is there,

No Probs, we have in fact sent out letters and entry forms to every entrant since 2002!! That is well over 200 different people.

Added to that, all Torana Clubs and others have been sent info as well..

This year is shaping up to be a big one!!

Hi All

the following is an article, and front page of the drive section of the Newcastle Herald that was sold last Saturday.

Apparently we are the first club ever to get on the cover of Drive..

and yes, it has generated alot of interest from the owners of HB Toranas in the region. Not so much from the TA owners though, but we are confident that we will find one..

hi all, with toranafest coming fast we need to know who and how many cars and people need accommodation. we have found a place in mayfield which is less than 10 minutes from toranafest and on the same direct road into newcastle.
the sovereign motor inn is a u shaped place with about 25 rooms. all rooms face the car park in the middle and you can park outside your room. the rooms cost between 86 and 99 a night. the car park also has room for a few car trailers aswell. also we can arrange for security of the car park at night. i know the boys from canberra will be staying saturday and sunday nights.the cost of the security will depent on how many people car coming. for eg; the cost of two security people for ten hours 8pm to 6am is $500 a night. it is peace of mind to know your cars are safe. for eg: 10 cars $50.00 each for security. please let me know asap.

accomodation sounds good, will bring up security etc at meeting mon night for you. At this stage the numbers are growing, 75% are saying yes so far.

At the show is there room for shade tent type thingos to be set up? Do we need to mention this on the entry form? We just wanted to set one up behind the car so we can chill out in the shade, have toys for the toddler etc.

plenty of room missy! i will have a shade tent there this year, got a bit pink last year! but be warned bring stuff to tie it down with as the wind can get pretty bad.

Mate I may be able to help with the TA
I live in Newcastle, actually had it in the 2005? Toranafest.
It is stock except for mags and lc taillights.
I should be able to throw the original wheels and hubcaps back on no probs for the day if you like.
I think I still have the TA rear lights, but not sure how easy they are to swap back?

There will be enough room behind the cars for all to put up a shade shelter, etc. As Orange LJ said, I would recommend throwing in some decent tent pegs, etc to tie it down. If the wind does pick up, it can get pretty wild.

I would love to come along but i am pretty sure funds and hubby aren't going to allow it also the old girls paint is starting to show it's been done for a bit (couple of scratches and aaagghh we found a little rust break out)
