i would buy a old 253/308 Less Heads,to use as a dummy Block,Fit your mounts and Sump on it.
Then put in Car,so you can work out stearing set up,and its easyer that way for first time
Go to a wreckers for Mounts,i think you can get mounts new but are not to cheap to buy.
Now the rod Shop sell a metal pattern thing i think for the bottom of the steering colum
to use as a template, but its not that hard to do,but take it slow.
You pull the old steering colum out,and basiclly drill new holes about 1/2 inch away from original holes(There 4 Holes)
but the new holes are,if you sitting in drivers Seat, the new holes are to the right(Driver Side Door side)
that side,as you need to move the steering colum over about 1/2 inch closer to the right,so the steering clears 308 engine block, and if you use Dummy Block, and having it sitting in there, you can put colum back in and work it out etc.
And on your Front Cross Member,on the passenger side there a trailing arm that branches off the front cross member, the passenger side one u need to grind a lip off to clear starter motor on the 308.
Buy extractors for the donk,If you use a HG 308 Alt Bracket, you can use the 6Cyl Alt wiring,as 6 Cyl LJ Alts are on passenger side.
You will need v8 LX Torana Front Disc's and v8 LX Front Calipers, and im sure that the Chassis kit is very much standard to use in each state,so you will need one of them for sure i would say.Check your states RTA Rules
on that, the Rod Shop in vic sell the Chassis kit. And dellow automotive in sydney sell a hydraulic Clutch kit
for V8 LJ so u can run a manual gearbox, use a M21 4 Speed gearbox and your standard tailshaft and diff can allso
be used,Less expense for you.

Yeah i have asked this question before also and got many replies.. We need a sticky for the 253 and 304/308 engines. Then it would be sweet...That's a good write up.
Also you need a V8 radiator, typically a HQ one, trim the mount plates a little where it hits the chassis rail.
Sticky anyone? This question gets asked once a month. (I know cause I was one of them)
