if it was mine id ditch the xu-2 stickers on the guards, get some fatter tyres for the rear and just cruise it.

of course at the same time id be collecting the mechanical parts as they came up so that i could have the option of turning it back to stock if i so desired/wanted to sell and make some $$$'s

You're right onto it mate. I couldn't agree more. There never was an XU-2 in the LJ range, it was only ever going to be a GTR XU-1 series 2 and the XU-1 option code was used in the LH range. You can never have wide enough rubber under the back, thats why people go to mini and full tubs. The parts need to be collected now while they are still semi-affordable so that it can easily and cheaply be put back to original if required in the future.

do the thing how you want to mate! if you are going to keep it, think about it, what would you rather, a purring V8 or a gutless and pretty lame 173 (sorry GTR fanatics but they are not a rocketship!) :tease:

LEAVE IT AS IS! ITS TUFF AS!

Peter and Harry both called the V8 LC project the XU-2,that's good enough for me .The black 2 door had no stickers and looked plane .The GTR has had a V8 in it for 10 years with XU-1 stickers on it and when I removed them ,I had the XU-2 stickers made up to create a bit of a stir :D

Yep, later '71 model LC GTR's had the 173S block.

XU-2 never existed as an option code on the LJ's, read the early Torana special in Muscle Car Magazine Steve.

I was drooling over this car at Toranafest.

Was also there when Harry confirmed that he called them an XU-2 around the workshop, but Holden was going to call them a XU-1 Series 2.

Its where it was first concieved so the xu-2 tag sound fitting on the LJ's model rather than the LH

but this is how it was repored in the press
