You're right onto it mate. I couldn't agree more. There never was an XU-2 in the LJ range, it was only ever going to be a GTR XU-1 series 2 and the XU-1 option code was used in the LH range. You can never have wide enough rubber under the back, thats why people go to mini and full tubs. The parts need to be collected now while they are still semi-affordable so that it can easily and cheaply be put back to original if required in the future.if it was mine id ditch the xu-2 stickers on the guards, get some fatter tyres for the rear and just cruise it.
of course at the same time id be collecting the mechanical parts as they came up so that i could have the option of turning it back to stock if i so desired/wanted to sell and make some $$$'s

XU-2 never existed as an option code on the LJ's, read the early Torana special in Muscle Car Magazine Steve.

Was also there when Harry confirmed that he called them an XU-2 around the workshop, but Holden was going to call them a XU-1 Series 2.
