Why not do it the other way around and change the stud pattern when you do the brakes? Or are you planning on leaving the rears standard?

Yes mate, the plan is to fit 17" Wheels( because of price and budget/the wife!,I'll be going Streeters) fitting Hopper Stoppers and leaving rear as is,I'll have to ask Show wheels what sort of price they can doi a 17" Streeter wheel/tyre package for?? I rarely drive the Torana because of the standard brakes+ enclosed mags= its too scary to drive!! :blink:

I cant wait to actually be able to stop the car when I want but im still saving my pennies.............

These are what I REALLY want on the LX but sadly looks like they are not available in Torana Stud Pattern,I dont know as yet what Stud pattern they are issued in?? I like the look of these a lot and wanted something different,I like em................

Hi all
Here is an interesting way of converting your existing stud pattern to, well, whatever you want I guess. In this case, it also provides the required "spacing" for the Commodore wheel offset.
I'm not saying this idea is good, bad or otherwise (I'm no engineer), but I did find it interesting.
I assume that this does not classify as a "spacer"??
Took the photo today at Motorex in Sydney.

If your car is 'too scary to drive' then I would be concerned that your brakes aren't even offering factory performance, you should make sure everything in the system is OK before working on upgrades

Spacers and adaptors are not legal in any state unless factory fitted. If you have an accident as a result of the adaptor failing your insurance company would have the option of walking away. An adaptor that is safe to use can be made but it will still not be legal or insured.

There is a picture of a failed adaptor in this thread.

Indeed, Personally theres no way I would ever run spacers I do remember that thread and the driver is extremely lucky,ive heard seen similar stories on other Auto websites too so its certainly not uncommon!

What rubber are you guys running with your 17's. Im keen to run a 45 profile on my 17inch streeters but it looks like i might have to cut the guard to make it fit as I only have 50mm clearance from the wheel to guard and measuring 45mm profile on my commodore ute, it measures at 75mm from wheel to outer edge of tyre.

Would running a bigger profile on the rears compared to the front look stupid?

I don't think that different profiles front and rear would look stupid as long as its not a huge difference, but I do think that too low a profile tyre looks strange full stop

i have 45 profile on my streeters and all my guards are rolled and it did require a little inner guard work

the lower the profile of the tyres in my opinion look far better on 17's and 18's. Some torries are starting to look like beefed up hilux's with the massive rolling diameter

I recommend 40 profile all round ... less rubbing. Although if your tyre width is small go the 45 rear.

Yeah the wheel width is 7inch all round. So for the front I will probably go with 215/40/17. and on the back 225/45/17.

A 235 can fit on a 7inch rim but only with 50 profile.

If I can get away with the 215/45/17 on the front, then 235/50/17 wouldn't look to silly on the back if I don't have too many issues with the larger overall diameter.

Might be a case of trial and error.

I had to trim the front bottom corner of the wheel arch off as well as the inner guard behind the wheel like UNVSM8 has shown.

Yeah thats my issue. The inner guard behind the wheel is not noticable but the front lip will be noticable. Do you have any photos of the front lip modification squarepants??

P6230031.JPG 318.83K 23 downloads but i had to cut the front corner off the guard as well (like square pants) although i just added the front spoiler and it covered the problem.
With the fronts ive got the CRS stub axles and i have VP commodre rotors the hub from the face of the disc to the bolt up face is about twice as thick as a HQ rotor not sure if this has had any bearing on the issue?
