Yes he did but that was early in LJ. The GTS ute was completed around March 1972 and Leo played with that for a while. I have the Pointers article that states exact when he left which I think was around July-August 1972. Will check.

I doubt it'd be a red metallic as per the LE, GMH didn't have anything lime it. Maybe a solid colour. I have the tags somewhere of a styling clinic HX Premier sedan painted in a trial metallic red.

August 1972 was the end of Leo's first stint at GMH.

I would say it is a shame it has a Powerglide and nine inch in it. At least one of the prototypes had the relocated fuel cap.

May be my old memory...but were the factory V8 fuel caps a bit higher in the C pillar?

From my old memory the filler caps on Joe's Lone O'ranger V8 GTR were high enough to be just below the rear parcel shelf but not so high as to look like the car is wearing ear muffs.

That's a F#rd fuel cap on that silver LJ.

Someone is either very clever or in need of some serious help.

I guess we will never know.

Q: G'day Joe. A Few Years ago my brother and I came across a car which may have been one of the v8 prototypes. would you be interested in having a chat about it?
