There is a product called talo i think its the same as lard. its to stop the solder sticking to the paddle or dolly.

Talo is what they used in the past....the equivalent to that is lard.

And yes it does stop the lead sticking to the paddle thus making the application of lead to the panel like icing a cake

Hi luv your work.

I have a lc 2 door with flairs on the rear guards and also rust behind each rear wheel.
I have been contemplating whether to repair the rear quarters or replace them as I see you have done on your drivers side rear quarter.

Would you say it was difficult to replace the whole panel as I have pretty good rear quarters from a donor car I can use.

If I repair them I am worried about getting the lines right and don't like the idea of it warping and the the bog that would be needed to fix it.

I know its been a while since your changed your rear quarter but do you have any idea of how long it took you.

Any advise would be grateful.

Cheers John.

John

Since it was my first attempt at doing a quarter the time was longer than expected.

I'd say I unpicked the donor and my old quarter over 2 weekends and fitted the replacement up on another weeked (maybe 30hrs....dont hold me to that).

I wasn't going flat just taking my time.

I've did a quarter and a guard arch and one thing I know is doing a quarter has a better result than doing a guard arch...so do the quarter and you'll be really happy with the result.

There are a couple of tricky parts if you decide to go ahead pm me and I can guide you through it.

Thanks for the information on the rear quarters.

I will have a mate who used to be a panel beater in the 70's & 80'shelping me ( or should i say,I will be helping him).

It will be a bit daunting the first time I cut into the rear quarters after looking at them for so long.

Cheers John

Finally my rally red lc gtr will see the road very soon.

Work went quiet last year so that meant funds were tight.

Motor has now been rebuilt and is in and running.

Tyres went on last week and the red bands will be on this sunday.

Trims arrived 2 weeks ago and there absolutely beautiful in black n silver

Rubber kit is going to be ordered at the end of the month.

My only hold up is finding glass for the 2 doors..

I started another project on a chateau mauve xu1 which is nearly finished so that will free up some more time to completely do mine.

I'll throw up some pics in the next few days...cheers everyone

Have heard that the rta could defect your car without this symbol.

I might give the rta a call and sus out the situation before I think about buying a set

A couple of new additions to my car.

Redbands went on today and gave the repro swaybar a demo fit-up on a spare suspension
