It sure is, i'm getting really excited because its so close to paint after so long

. Paint will be a huge mile stone, after that i have to just reassemble and get the interior trimmed up. :rockon:

You're not guide coating after the high fill?

Awesome progress.

Sorry i miss understood, i will be blocking it as it is with 240 then high fill and prime the areas i touched. Ill then block the entire car back with 600 and then paint.

Thanks for the comments guys, lets hope that i dont botch the final job after all this effort. I dont expect the body to be perfect but hopefully its straight enough for glossy 2pac.

I probably should add that I've bought all the paint, thinners, clear etc to paint the entire car. I also decided that I'm going to paint on the HQ GTS 'black outs', but rather than solid paint I'm going to use a silver pearl tinter (mixed with something, i cant remember what). The pearl tinter will go on almost clear, so i just have to do a few experiments to with a old panel to work out how many coats of the pearl i need to get the desired effect. The 'black outs' should be almost invisible until the light hits the bonnet and boot at the right angle.

Total costs for the following was $650

4L - 2Pak 'Mazda Winning Blue'
5L - lesonal Clear
5L - Lesonal thinners
2.5L - Top coat hardner
.5L - Silver pearl tinter ($70 by itsself)
Misc stuff like mixing cups, filters, tack rag masking tape etc.

I like that idea a lot.

All I was saying in my last post was that I would recommend you guide coat over your high fill and rub all that back. Then instead of merely knowing that your work isn't/wasn't perfect, the high fill can be used to your advantage to make it straight.

Having said that I still haven't applied the top coat to my car so I shouldn't really be giving people advice without even seeing my own results.

Just a suggestion.

I would suggest not using high fill (which is bloody spray putty grrr) and using a propper 2k primer filler....Like i did in your thread Heath.

But thats just me.

I've used 2k primer fillter, then i was going to block and fill any lows with dolphin glaze putty and then prime thoes areas again and block.

Alls i can say is EXCELENT!

Most poeple i know wouldnt have even attempted to take that shell to the scrap metal joint and you have revived it mate.

Well i blocked it all back, filled any lows that needed filling and primed it up again yesterday. I'm just having a lunch break now, i've been wet sanding for 3 hours and i'm half done :clap:

. Its coming up really nice, ill see how i go for time but at this stage it looks like colour will go down tomorrow because sanding is taking longer than i thought!

Lucky its a long weekend :spoton:

I was going to make a comment about having no finger prints left. After having my hands soaked in water from 10 am - 6 pm and with no finger prints left, everything feels *weird*.

The only part i haven't sanded yet is the bit behind the rear bumper, just so sick of sanding now

.

It looks like ill be painting tomorrow, the weather should be 2 degree's warmer and hopefully the sun comes out once i've finished spraying so i can bake the paint in natures oven
